THE EXPERIENCE YOU NEED. THE RESULTS YOU WANT.
History of the Firm
LAT celebrates its 30th anniversary this year as a closely held corporation operating in Maryland and established to conduct title examinations, provide commercial and residential real estate settlements, and issue title insurance.
In 1990, LAT won its first HUD contract covering Washington, DC and Baltimore which started a relationship with Federal and State governments that continues today. LAT has worked with the National Park Service, Maryland State Highway Administration, US Marshal Service, and the Fish and Wildlife Services amongst others in Maryland and Florida.
The Sandlers founded the LAT Career School in 1997, which provided accredited continuing education classes for Realtors throughout the year. In addition, we partnered with Howard Community College to conduct pre-licensing courses semi-annually for prospective real-estate agents.
In 2020, the Sandlers decided to step back from the daily operations of the title company, and brought in Mary Ann Hammel, Esquire, and Mid-Atlantic Title, LLC, (MAT) to manage and grow the business. As both LAT and MAT had been in business each for over 30 years and were successfully run by attorneys. The synergy between the companies gave reassurance to clients and customer of LAT that the staff and quality of service would continue without interruption.
We believe the conveyance of property is a legal matter. Our seal says it best – Properties creata est a lege et sine lege esse cessat which means property is created in law and without law, ceases to exist. Being attorney owned and operated assures compliance with all RESPA laws and procedures. We leave no stone unturned to resolve complex title issues, to conduct settlements in a professional manner and follow through, post-closing, to ensure all documents are recorded in a timely fashion. We strive to serve our industry partners with excellence and look forward to serving you.
